A roundtable on “The Political and Economic Developments in the Black Sea Region” was held on September 24, 2026, at Kadir Has University with a delegation made up from the South Korean Consulate General in İstanbul, as well as representatives from South Korean public trade agencies, financial institutions, and private sector corporations. The event provided a platform for diplomats, academics, and corporate experts to discuss the region’s evolving geopolitical and economic landscape.
Following the welcoming remarks and introductions by Prof. Mustafa Aydın, H.E. Taeyoung Park, Consul General of South Korea in İstanbul, delivered opening address. The academic and economic perspectives were subsequently explored through presentations by Prof. Mustafa Aydın from the Political Science and International Relations Department of Kadir Has University, who also serves as the President of the Global Academy, on “The Black Sea at a Geopolitical Crossroads: Emerging Political Dynamics and Regional Implications”, and by Mr Can Selçuki, Economist and General Manager of Istanbul Economy Research, on “The Black Sea Economy in Transition: Regional Economic Prospects and Ukraine’s Reconstruction”.
The event continued with a roundtable discussion and a Q&A session. This segment allowed participants from key institutions, including K-Sure, Samsung C&T, POSCO International, KOTRA, Korea Eximbank and academics attending the event to further debate economic and political forecasts, and operational insights regarding the Black Sea region’s future.
