Serhat Güvenç

Serhat Güvenç is currently Professor of International Relations and the Dean of Faculty of Economics, Administrative Sciences at Kadir Has University. Previously, he held faculty positions Istanbul Bilgi University (2000-2010) and lectured as visiting Assistant Professor of History at the University of Chicago (2006), as adjunct professor of international relations at Koç University (2008 and 2009) and Bosphorus University (2014).

Dr. Güvenç’s research interests include Turkey’s foreign relations, defence policy and maritime security.

He has authored five books and numerous articles in refreed journals such as Journal of Strategic Studies, Southeast European and Black Sea Studies, International Journal, Turkish Studies, The Journal of Military History, the Journal of Cold War History, War and Society and Defence Studies.

Most recently, he has contributed to policy papers/reports published by the Atlantic Council and the International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS) on the Black Sea security and the Turkish defense industry respectively.

Professor Güvenç is a board member of the Foundation of Lausanne Treaty Emigrants
