Birgül Demirtaş

Birgül Demirtaş earned her bachelor’s degree from Boğaziçi University, her master’s degree from Bilkent University, and her doctorate from the Free University of Berlin. She has taught at Başkent University, TOBB ETÜ, and the Turkish-German University. Demirtaş has also been a visiting lecturer at the University of Tübingen and the Center for Comparative Politics at the University of Cologne and a visiting researcher in the Department of International Relations at the University of Westminster. Demirtaş has served as the managing editor of the Journal of International Relations. Her research focuses on Turkish foreign policy, the Balkans, German foreign policy, local diplomacy, and gender in academia. Demirtaş currently works as a part-time faculty member in the Department of International Relations at TED University. He is the publication coordinator for GAV Perspective Publications and the editor of the peer-reviewed academic journal Turkish Journal of Diaspora Studies (TJDS).
