.The International Relations Council Association (IRCT) held the eighth of its Security Academy series, which it has been holding regularly since 2008, at The Green Park Kartepe Resorts & Spa on December 18-22, 2013. In addition to representatives of institutions that are influential in the making of security policy in Turkey, academicians from different universities and graduate-doctoral students participated in the training program, which was carried out with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NATO Public Diplomacy Unit. 

The first of the Security Academy training program series was held on 20-24 December 2008 at Ankara University Ilgaz Mountain ÖRSEM facilities; the second one at Urgup Dinler Hotel on 12-15 June 2009; the third is Ilgaz Mountain Resort Hotel on 18-22 December 2009; the fourth one was held on 18-21 June 2010 at Işık University’s Şile campus; the fifth was on 16-20 December 2010 at Ankara University Ilgaz Mountain ÖRSEM facilities; The sixth one was held at Ilgaz Mountain Resort Hotel on 21-25 December 2011 and the last one was held at Ilgaz Mountain Resort Hotel between 19-23 December 2012.

The International Relations Council Association (IRCT) organized the fifth edition of the Security Academy. It was held at Ilgaz on 16-20 December 2010 with the theme of “International Security in the 21st Century”. The training program, which will be organized with the contributions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NATO Public Diplomacy Unit and TUBITAK, aims to provide its participants with the opportunity to discuss the meaning of the concept of security and its changing face in the 21st century in a comprehensive way with the actors who are influential in security policy making in Turkey and those who research the subject at academic level. 

The first of the training program, which has been held twice a year in six-month periods since 2008, was held at Ankara University Ilgaz Mountain ÖRSEM facilities on 20-24 December 2008, the second at the Ürgüp Dinler Hotel on 12-15 June 2009, and the third on 18-22 December 2009. It was held in Ilgaz Mountain Resort Hotel in , and the last one was held on 18-21 June 2010 at Işık University’s Şile campus. The Security Academy covered the presentations, panels and film screenings of the experts in the field and the representatives of the influential institutions in the formation of Turkey’s security policy within the framework of the visual education method. As a result of the training program in which MPs, bureaucrats, diplomats, academics, researchers, representatives of civil society, media and military institutions and graduate and doctorate students can participate, the “21st Century A report titled “Turkey’s Security Problems in the 21st Century and Suggestions for Solutions” has been prepared. 

As a result of the application determined for the program, 35 people were entitled to attend the Security Academy.

International Relations Council Association (IRCT) organized the fourth Security Academy. It was held on 18-21 June 2010 at Işık University Şile Campus with the theme of “International Security in the 21st Century”. In the training program, organized with the contributions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Işık University, security-themed simulations were organized for the first time with the active participation of the participants, unlike previous programs. 

27 people from different universities and state institutions in Turkey participated in the mentioned program and were entitled to receive certificates. The program focused on “Perception of the Concept of Security in Turkey”, “Media and Security”, “Turkey’s Security Problems Through the Perspective of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey”, “New Security Issues” and “Regional Security Issues”.

The International Relations Council Association (IRCT) organized the third of the Security Academy at the Mountain Resort Hotel in Ilgaz on 18-22 December 2009 with the theme of “International Security in the 21st Century”. Organized with the contributions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NATO Public Diplomacy Unit and TUBITAK, 25 people from different universities and state institutions in Turkey participated in the program and were entitled to receive certificates. 

“Development of Security Studies”, “Approaches in Security Studies”, “Changing Agenda of International Security”, “Terrorism and Security”, “Turkey’s Security Problems Through the Perspective of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey”, “NATO and International Security ” and “Regional Security Issues” etc. Film screenings were also included in the program in which the subjects were discussed.

The second of the Security Academy, organized by the International Relations Council Association (IRCT) with the contributions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ankara University, was held in Cappadocia between 12-15 June 2009. The Academy has brought together academicians who are experts in the field of security studies, bureaucrats, representatives of civil society and media, and graduate and doctoral students. The second of the Security Academies, which is expected to be held within the framework of a different security theme every year, is the “21. It was organized with the theme of “understanding international security in the 21st century”. The purpose of the Second Security Academy has been determined as to create a discussion platform by bringing together academicians and bureaucrats who are experts in the theoretical and practical fields of security and people who are interested in the field, and to enable the changing security environment of the 21st century to be analyzed in the most appropriate way by transferring knowledge and experience. Organized in three panels, the Academy included presentations made by an academic staff of 10 from various universities specialized in security studies, as well as media and civil society representatives, film screenings within the framework of visual education, and subsequent discussions on these screenings. 20 people participated in the training program and were entitled to receive certificates.

International Relations Council Association (IRCT), which was established on 20-24 December 2008, organized a Certificate Program titled “Security Academy: Understanding Security in the 21st Century” with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and with the contributions of NATO Public Diplomacy Unit and Ankara University with 40 participants and 15 educators.

The program, held at the Ilgaz Mountain ÖRSEM Facilities, provided the actors involved in the production and implementation of security policy in Turkey and those working at the academic level to discuss the changing face of the concept of security in the 21st century and its effects on Turkey. The program aimed to create a discussion platform among those working in the field of security in theory and practice and to exchange knowledge and experience. Academicians, researchers, graduate and doctorate students and representatives of civil society, media and security bureaucracy participated in the program.
