Building Social Resilience Against Information Irregularities, which will be held on 13-15 November 2024 in B\u00fcy\u00fckada, Istanbul, is organized by Global Academy in cooperation with the Council on International Relations and supported by the NATO Public Diplomacy Unit \u201cCombating Information Irregularities\u201d (TD-FIMI) project and the US Embassy \u201cMake Infomation True Again\u201d (MITA) project. The event aims to bring together experts, academics and young professionals to explore the increasingly complex problems caused by information irregularities in today’s digital world and to develop ways to combat them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building Societal Resilience Against Information Irregularities aims to understand, analyze and disseminate methods to counter information irregularities and their sources, which are one of the main security challenges facing states in today’s hyper-information world. While combating information irregularities, the event also aims to strengthen democratic values and support the efforts of countries to combat the increasing information manipulation and foreign interference in today’s world by developing the culture of confirmation and critical thinking of the younger generation. By enabling undergraduate and graduate university students to confront information irregularities and develop a culture of confirmation and critical and analytical thinking skills, it also envisages strengthening the pool of knowledge on these issues in order to develop national, international and institutional (NATO, EU, etc.) efforts against information irregularities as a threat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

General Overview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Building Societal Resilience against Information Irregularities Program offers a workshop-format training program to increase the knowledge of participants between the ages of 18-35 on traditional and new understandings of security, to contribute to the development of a culture of verification and rapid information control, to raise awareness of information irregularities, manipulation and interference in current national\/international political developments, to support national and institutional (e.g. NATO) efforts against one of the most important threats of the 21st century, and to increase knowledge, awareness and understanding on related issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop aims to equip participants with the tools and knowledge to effectively identify, analyze and counter information irregularities. Participants will learn about the role of information irregularities in current national and international political developments, the methods used to manipulate information, and the efforts of NATO and other international organizations and states to counter such ‘hybrid threats’. In addition to training, the program will include lectures and interactive simulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who Can Attend? <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Building Social Resilience Against Disinformation Program is open to undergraduate and graduate students between the ages of 18-35 who are willing to confront disinformation and develop critical thinking and analysis skills. While the program primarily aims to further inform and develop the competence of those with basic knowledge on disinformation and related issues, it is envisaged that it will also benefit those who have never conducted studies or received training on these issues.

Building Social Resilience Against Information Disorders Program will be held in B\u00fcy\u00fckada, Istanbul. B\u00fcy\u00fckada provides the perfect setting to focus, learn, develop and reflect. Participants will be offered an intensive interactive program in a relaxed and friendly environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants will be provided with 2 nights’ accommodation in a 2-person room, breakfast, lunch, tea and coffee breaks and training materials free of charge. No travel support will be provided to the participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants coming from inside and outside Istanbul will be asked to plan to be in B\u00fcy\u00fckada on Wednesday, November 13 at 11:00 at the latest and to leave the island after the program, which will end at 16:00 on Friday, November 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendance to the entire program is compulsory and late or early departure will not be accepted. Those who successfully complete the entire program will receive a certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
